A total of 6,074,000 foreign tourists visited Iran’s tourist attractions in the nine months from March 21 to December 21, 2018.

Speaking to IRNA on Friday, Deputy Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) Vali Teimouri further said that six million Iranians visited other countries during the same period.

Iran is ranked among top 10 tourism hubs in the world in terms of tourist attractions including historical, natural and spiritual attractions which should be used to attract more domestic and foreign tourists, Teimouri added.

Since the number of Iranian tourists visited other countries and those foreign tourist who came to Iran are in the same range, officials should try to attract more tourists to create employment for Iranians, he said.‌

All of the Iranian cities have the potential to attract tourists and tourism should not be limited to a few specific cities during Norouz (Persian New Year) vacations, he stated.

IRAN

For intrepid travelers, the question is not whether to visit Iran; it’s how to get there before an influx of tourists taints the experience. This is no casual undertaking. The visa application process is lengthy and complex; citizens from the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. must be on escorted tours; and travelers have to abide by a government dress code.

Iranian welcomed tourits

Take our word for it, though. The hassle is worthwhile. Since 2015’s historic nuclear deal was brokered, several companies have launched itineraries and major European airlines have resumed their flights.

On trips such as Cox and King’s Heart of Persia, you’ll get to roam the desert bazaar of Kerman, ogle Moorish palaces and mosaic-tiled mosques in Isfahan, and see ancient sites like the royal city of Persepolis, which dates to roughly 500 B.C.

Shiraz Supermoon, Persepolis

“These are the kinds of sites that you can’t find elsewhere—and which, in places like Afghanistan and Syria, have been tragically destroyed,” said Brian Allen, Asia specialist for Mountain Travel Sobek, which has been leading tours to Iran for four years.

Then there’s the legendary Persian food and hospitality. “There is a cultural norm in Iran that guests are from god,” Allen said. “I frequently hear people say they’ve been all over the world and never received a welcome like they got there.”

As always, please check your government’s travel alerts website (like this one for the U.S.) before going to a country that shares complex diplomatic relations with your own.

When to go: Late October or early November, when the climate is just right for outdoor sightseeing.
When not to go: Iranian holidays clog the streets with traffic, and Ramadan makes a trip extra-complicated; this year, avoid the last two weeks of March and the month of June.

The number of foreign tourists visiting Kashan, in Isfahan Province, increased fourfold over the past two years compared to the figure for the same period before it, said the city’s mayor.

Many travellers opt to bypass Kashan on their journeys between Tehran, Isfahan and Yazd, but we counsel you not to do the same. In fact, this delightful oasis city on the edge of the Dasht-e Kavir gets our vote as one of the most alluring destinations in Iran, boasting a highly atmospheric covered bazaar, a cluster of architecturally significant 19th-century houses and three excellent accommodation options.

Shah Abbas I agreed with our assessment – he was so enamoured with Kashan that he insisted on being buried here rather than in Esfahan. Other historical figures of note who are associated with the town include Abu Musa al-Ashari, a soldier and companion of the Prophet Mohammed whose army took the town in the 7th century AD. Legend has it that his troops tossed thousands of scorpions from the surrounding desert over the city walls, causing the terrified Kashanis to capitulate.

During the Seljuk period (AD 1051–1220) the town became famous for its textiles, pottery and tiles. Today it is a major centre for the production of textiles, rugs and rose water, and a great place to stock up on quality souvenirs. The most popular time of the year to visit is April, when the fields of rose bushes outside town are in full and fragrant bloom./lonely planet

KASHAN GEOGRAPHY
Kashan is poor in flora and fauna. The most typical plants are bushes and shrubs spreading over the steppes, but the landscape becomes richer with increased elevation. Characteristic trees are pine, cypress, black poplar, elm, and ash. Most of the highland’s small forests are already extinct, as the trees have been burned for charcoal.

KASHAN History
Archeological discoveries in the Sialk Hillocks which lie 4 km west of Kashan reveal that this region was one of the primary centers of civilization in pre-historic ages. Hence Kashan dates back to the Elamite period of Iran. The Sialk ziggurat still stands today in the suburbs of Kashan after 7,000 years.

Historical Sites
There are many sites and places to see and visit in Kashan of potential interest to tourists in Iran, Many tourists visit kashan and surrounded notable places like Qamsar and Abyane village which attract tourist’s year around. The amazing shrine of Hilal Ibn Alie

The city of Kashan, similar to other older Iranian cities, preserved its traditional architectural features and urban design into the early 20th century. This traditional arrangement, which formed during the Saljuq and Safavid periods and continued through the Qajar era, drastically changed in the Pahlavi period and, more specifically, during the latter half of the 20th century .

KASHAN WARE

The town of Kashan, as a city associated with high-quality ceramic production in the medieval period, appears to have been a major site for the manufacture of fine wares between the 1170s and 1220s as well as in the later 13th and early 14th centuries.

Pete R.:  I thought I knew what a good hospitality is like.. until I came to Iran.
“Why go to Iran?” This is a question people often asked when I tell them I was going there. I would have ask the same if it wasn’t the words of mouth I heard over the years about how awesome Iran is, how incredibly friendly the people are, and how off the beaten path the whole country is.
The first day I arrived in Tehran, I was walking around the Bazaar and we were approached by several locals asking what we think about Iran, gave us free tea and cakes, and allowed us to roam their warehouses without asking for anything in return. This similar scenario happened a lot more throughout my 2 weeks time in Iran and really got me thinking about how misinformed I was about the country. It is very safe to travel in Iran, easy to do it independently as the locals will go out of their ways to help you, and the people are one of the friendliest people in the world. Not to mention how beautiful the landscape is, how stunning all the attractions are, and how off the beaten track the whole country is.

Visit Iran – 79 reasons and places that will make Iran your next travel destination

João Leitão: Iran is an amazing country. Do you have any doubts about it? I know that the general opinion in the West is that Iran is a dangerous country.

The NEWS in Europe and the US tell us about a different Iran. They describe a place full of violence that makes us believe the country is populated with mad, unfriendly and ferocious people.

Well, we got that wrong…

Why?

  • First: Iran is one of the safest places I’ve ever been to. Crime is much lower than in most European countries and USA.
  • Second: Iranian people are among the friendliest and most hospitable in the World;
  • Third: Iran is quite developed, clean, and its population are well educated and have cultural / political awareness.

I’ve been twice to Iran. The last time was back in 2012. I went along with my girlfriend and we left Iran with the desire of coming back soon. And we will.

I’m sure that your opinion about Iran will change after you check out these 79 reasons and places that will make Iran your next travel destination.
